A ferrule fitting is another name buyers use for a compression tube fitting that seals with metal ferrules. In instrumentation stainless, “ferrule” almost always means the double-ferrule set: a front ferrule that seals and a back ferrule that grips.
Double ferrule in plain language
- Body — the port or union that holds the seat
- Front ferrule — forms the primary metal-to-metal seal
- Back ferrule — locks the tube against vibration pull-out
- Nut — drives both ferrules as you tighten
