Choosing between SS304 and SS316 is one of the first decisions OEM and project buyers make when ordering stainless steel fittings from a factory.
When SS304 is enough
SS304 suits many utility air, water and general instrumentation lines where chloride levels are low. It is usually the faster-stock option for compression fittings and standard ball valves.
When to specify SS316 / SS316L
SS316 (and SS316L) is preferred for corrosive media, marine splash, chemical dosing and food contact. If your drawing calls for 316, say so in the RFQ so we quote the correct material and certificates.
