Correct installation matters as much as the alloy. Most first-time leaks on stainless steel compression fittings come from short insertion, hard tube or skipping the ferrule order — not from the forging itself.
Steps we recommend
- Cut square and deburr ID/OD so the tube seats fully.
- Slide nut, then back ferrule, then front ferrule onto the tube (orientation matters).
- Insert tube to the shoulder of the body.
- Tighten the nut to the factory prescription for that size (finger-tight plus turns, or gauge if you use one).
- Pressure-test before boxing the panel.
Tube hardness
Use tubing that meets the hardness range for double-ferrule service (often fully annealed stainless). Hard hydraulic tube can refuse a proper bite on gas lines.
